GL MISSION AND VISION

To work with high potential but resource restricted farmers and progressive social entrepreneurs (especially the youth and women) in crafting solutions to challenges they face as a result of social economic imbalances and effects of climate change. We envision a nation with sustainable livelihoods. GL is a local NGO which has existed since 2006 and its head office is in Lilongwe but implements various chain chains programs in 3 districts (Salima, Dowa and Kasungu).

MORINGA ACRES IMPACT VISION

To become a leading supplier of high-quality tree plant-based products with exceptional nutritional, cosmetic and medicinal value on local, regional and international markets. By putting value on local resources: our mission is to manufacture high quality tree plant-based products with acceptable return value, using sustainable technology and leading expertise. Moringa Acres which was initially registered as a sole proprietary in 2020, and is currently officially registered as a limited company in Malawi, as of January 2022

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN GREENLIVELIHOODS (GL) AND  MORINGA ACRES LTD

THE TWO ORGANISATIONS AGREE TO FORM A STRATEGIC ALLIANCE IN ORDER TO:

• Promote the Commercialization & Competitiveness of Organic Moringa Value Chain Development in Malawi and beyond.

MISSION OF THE ALLIANCE

• To increase quantity, quality, traceability and certification of Moringa products in Malawi (starting with Salima) for economic growth in Moringa producing communities.

VISION OF THE ALLIANCE

• • To have a sustainably developed, competitive and commercialized Moringa value chain with ability to support the economic livelihoods of forest and farming dependent cooperatives, creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth, women and men in Malawi. Furthermore, the partnership envisages support the formation/actualization and legitimization of the Moringa Association of Malawi (MAM).

VALUE PROPOSITION OF THE ALLIANCE TOWARDS MORINGA VALUE CHAIN

1. TO SMALLHOLDER FARMERS AND COOPERATIVES/ASSOCIATIONS

i. Improved access to market for moringa products: Moringa powder, Seeds, Oil for bulk sales and export (MORINGA ACRES to support with linkages to the markets while GL will ensure quality produced Moringa)

ii. Improved access to modern moringa technologies (MORINGA ACRES to advise on moringa related technologies while GL will source support to finance the equipment and organic certification)

iii. Improved access to modern and quality related technology training and other advisory services (MORINGA ACRES to provide product quality training and services and/or training guidelines, checklists or manuals; GL to source funding to finance training of specific cooperatives) in collaboration with moringa youth hubs/clubs, government extension workers, community development officers and Moringa franchisees

iv. Increased income from Moringa at household and cooperative/association level

v. Increased volumes and quality of Moringa vi. Increased business knowledge (farmers to be trained on business management and knowledge management) vii. Increase access to industrial/market based Moringa production guidelines for improved private-farmer stakeholder engagement.
