COMPANY BACKGROUND

Moringa Acres was born out of a passion and belief in the transformative qualities and global economic value of tree plant-based products such as Moringa, Neem and Baobab. The company’s founder and main shareholder, Mr. Manota Mphande, observed that while Malawi hosts many smallholders that grow Moringa, Neem and Baobab, the country lacks a reliable and registered Malawian company to transform their agro-products into commercial user-end products. Mphande also observed the growing global consumer demand for natural plant-based beauty and healthcare products, and saw the opportunity to mass export locally manufactured products while promoting sustainable enterprise for smallholder farmers in Malawi.
Moringa Acres which was initially registered as a sole proprietary in 2020, and is currently officially registered as a limited company in Malawi, as of January 2022. By 2021, the company was able to identify a private investor, who has helped facilitate next steps in company strategic growth and market penetration.

MORINGA SEED OIL

Generally, all Moringa species are rich in oil, though Moringa Oleifera has the highest kernel yield per seed. The wild unnamed variety found in Malawi has a higher seed oil content averaging 41.4% compared to other varieties found in India, Kenya and other tropical and sub-tropical area that have wild Moringa growing.
Moringa seeds contain approximately 35-42% oil. With cold pressing technology, at ambient temperature, yields of extraction average around 65%. This means that cold pressed of dehulled seeds yields approx. 25% oil from the weight of the seeds. Seeds of different maturity produce different quality oils. Oil producers need to sort and grade seed prior to pressing to manage the final quality of oil.
Moringa oil is cold-pressed from mature Moringa seeds, yielding an odorless, brilliant yellow oil with a slightly nutty, bitter flavor.
